MEL'S STORY - Text Messages
(The truth comes out)
Sarah: I reckon you should tell the police about those text messages Mel. You've just kept them to yourself for two weeks and you're in a right state.
Mel: I know that's what you're supposed to do, that's why I didn't wipe them.
Kelly: Have you not even told your grandad? I thought you told him everything?
Mel: He's not exactly familiar with mobiles. Anyway, I didn't want to worry him.
Sarah: Mel! When I said that last week, about not telling my mum stuff, you had a right go at me!
Kelly: She's right Mel, you should tell your grandad, but you should tell the police too. We're in town, why not go and see them now?
Mel: Oh no, I couldn't do it on my own. I should tell someone at home first.
Kirstie: They're from Joanne.
Mel/Sarah/Kelly: WHAT?
Mel: How do you know? Oh, her number, right?
Kelly: But I've got her number on my phone, and it's not the same.
Kirstie: It's her mum's phone. She uses it sometimes when she hasn't got any credit.
Sarah: So why didn't you say anything before?
Kirstie: You know why. She's my best friend.
Kelly: Some best friend you've got. Hey, you haven't been sending them as well have you?
Kirstie: No way. Honestly Mel, I really haven't. I was gobsmacked when I saw the number. I just didn't know.
Mel: So how come you said nothing?
Kirstie: She's my best friend. I was thinking about what to do.
Sarah: So what are you going to do?
Kirstie: I've told you who sent them haven't I? Mel can tell the police if she wants to. I'll get a right mouthful from Jo if she finds out.
Kelly: Are you that bothered? Mel's your friend too. Joanne's worse than any of the things she's been calling Mel.
Kirstie: I don't know what else you expect me to do, I've told you who it was. Don't tell her will you?
Sarah: Like Kelly said though, why do you care?
Mel: No it's okay. Thanks for telling me who it was, Kirst. If you all think it's what I ought to do, I'm going round to my grandad's and get him to come to the police with me. I expect they'll tell the school too.
