JAMIE'S STORY - Consequences
Kirstie: Still waiting for lunch? What are they doing, going mining for those chicken nuggets?
Kelly: So, Kirst, Joanne's got suspended then?
Kirstie: You know that already, what are you asking me for?
Kelly: Oh y'know, just wondered if you'd seen her, if she was okay....
Kirstie: As if you'd care Kelly!
Chris: I hear she's going to a counsellor. Is that right?
Kelly: Yeah, is she?
Kirstie: What if she is? What's this, a meeting to slag off Joanne?
Mel: No it's not Kirstie. You might not believe it but I don't hate her or anything, and it's not as if she's been suspended for ever is it? I don't want to be at this school deadly enemies with anyone, thank you very much.
Kirstie: All right Mel, I didn't mean to have a go at you. It's just that Jo's in a right state really, and although she's a right cow sometimes she's got problems of her own, and sometime's it's like I'm her only friend.
Sarah: Funny really, Joanne's seeing the counsellor and so am I. Me cos of being bullied and her cos of being the bully. I wonder if they make sure we don't have appointments next to each other.
Chris: Perhaps they should get you together anyway.
Jamie: What, to fight it out amongst themselves?
Hussain: At some time or other it might be good, actually. I mean, she ought to know how you feel Sarah, and, well, Kirstie says Joanne's got problems of her own....
Sarah: So I can sit and listen to Joanne's excuses? I don't think so.
Hussain: I didn't mean like that. I guess she might be the last person you'd want to sit talking to, but like Mel says, while we're at school who needs enemies?
Sarah: She might have been a different person if we'd had this buddy system a few years ago.
Chris: So you're volunteering to be Joanne's buddy Sarah?
Sarah: Don't be a prat Chris. You buddy someone younger and help them deal with hassles and stuff. They're giving me someone in year 7 after I've seen the counsellor a bit more. There's a bit of training and stuff.
Mel: Yeah, but the training's no big deal. It's good though, it really made me more confident.
Jamie: If we had a school magazine you'd be the agony aunt.
Hussain: Yeah! - "Dear Mel. I'm worried about my dress sense" - signed, "the Head."
