HASSLES

I have two hassles.

One is that people go on at me about being clever. It gets on my nerves but what can you do? I just find most school stuff pretty easy and I like doing it well, but I get some stick from others in the class for showing them up when they haven't done homework, or they don't understand something. I think it's their problem, but it's still a hassle. Everyone seems to think I'm going to get really good exams so I expect I will. Brighton's a cool place so maybe I'll go to uni here and then go and be a dead rich tycoon or TV person.

My other hassle is harder to talk about - I think maybe I like girls instead of boys, if you know what I mean. Other girls are going on about all the blokes they fancy and sticking up pictures of Westlife in their bedrooms, and I'm, like, not interested (not in boy bands anyway). I pretend sometimes. Like last summer when some of the girls at school were going on about what they'd done with which boys, I said I'd had this thing with a boy on holiday and we were still writing to each other and stuff like that. My Mum and Dad used to ask me about boyfriends but they've stopped, so maybe.... Mel sort of knows, so does Sarah, but I don't talk about it with anyone. I mean, it's not a hassle really, I'm okay with it, but it's a big deal with everyone else I mean, how do you come out when you aren't sixteen?
